A World of Taste: El Mundo Restaurant

Jim and I try to visit a different independent Louisville establishment every weekend to get to know our new city. Our expressed purpose is to become familiar with restaurants and bars so that we have a better idea of where to take family and friends when they visit. My secret motive is to get Jim out for date night at least once a week.

Last Saturday, we decided to try Mexican fare at El Mundo on Frankfort Avenue. The small restaurant and bar, located upstairs above the kitchen, is filled with a myriad of fun and colorful decor as you can see from the pictures taken on my phone. We were able to get a seat at the bar while we waited for a table.

Naturally, margaritas needed to be explored and I can personally recommend the wonderful guava margarita and the brightly pink prickly pear margarita. Jim had...beer...not even Mexican beer, so disappointing. Jim was however willing to try an appetizer and we enjoyed the "Dippity-Do," a sampler of four interesting and tasty dips with tortilla chips. Dinner was also great and we are looking forward to sampling many more items from their made-from-scratch food.
