Locust Grove Market Fair Weekend
Not far from our home is the historic site of Locust Grove. Last Saturday we went to visit their annual 18th century market fair including American and British encampments. It gave us an opportunity to get a glimpse into what life was like in the late 1800's and talk to the re-enactors who were extremely knowledgeable about the time period. The market area consisted of blacksmiths, potters, milliners, furniture makers, bakers, etc. All vendors were dressed in historical costumes and seemed to be having a good time enjoying the outdoors on a beautiful fall day. It was one of the most enjoyable history lessons I have had for awhile and we are looking forward to visiting it next year.
